The South Coast Adoption Consortium consists of the Isle of Wight, Poole, Southampton, West Sussex and Portsmouth. Each Authority acts as an adoption agency to meet the need for permanent families for their own children.

The Consortium has been set up, to improve the choice and range of adopters for individual children, and make available more opportunities for training and support for adopters. It will operate on the basis of anti-discriminatory practice, and encourage the highest quality work with children, birth families and adopters.

The policy of sharing resources by all five member authorities will expand the choices available to each agency. It is hoped that this will bring about improved outcomes for all. In consolidating and sharing resources, the consortium will be able to offer the best value services and high levels of practice across its authorities.
